Not Your Mother’s Feminism: Sisterhood in the Digital Age
I recently had the pleasure of attending Not Your Mother’s Feminism: Sisterhood in the Digital Age at the Brooklyn Historical Society. The panel was moderated by Angélique Roché, Senior Director of External Affairs at the Ms. Foundation, and featured panelists including Mallory Ortberg (Co-founder of The Toast) Heben Nigatu (Co-host of BuzzFeed’s Another Round), Lori Adelman (Executive Director of Partnerships at Feministing), Prachi Gupta (Senior Writer at Cosmopolitan) and Susana Polo (Founder of The Mary Sue).
These innovative and pioneering women discussed the evolution of 2nd to 3rd wave feminism, internet subculture feminism, intersectionality, race, gender identification and millennial lifestyle. It was fantastic to listen to these woman talk at length about their own relationship with their feminist identities, their extremely diverse lifestyles, upbringings and importantly their camaraderie with their fellow woman.
